Acupuncture and Seasonal Allergies

I was recently asked about Acupuncture and it's effectiveness on seasonal allergies. Many patients use acupuncture to manage seasonal allergy flare ups. Acupuncture helps boost tolerance to common triggers such as pollen, dust, mites and animal dander so that sensitivity is decreased and symptoms are less severe. Symptoms for seasonal allergies include, but are not limited to: itchy watery eyes, sneezing, coughing, throat discomfort, headache, sinus pressure, wheezing and trouble sleeping. There are many OTC remedies for Allergies, but often they come with many unwanted side effects such as drowsiness and dependance.

A recent German study was published in The American Journal of Epidemiology that demonstrated the effectivess of Acupuncture on Allergic Rhinitis when it was combined with routine care. The results found in 3 and 6 month follow ups that when Acupuncture was combined with routine care, the results were more persistant and beneficial than when routine care alone was utilized.

Consider making Acupuncture part of your routine care!
